Samsung HAF-QIN/EXP Genuine Refrigerator Water Filter, Reduces 99% of Harmful Contaminants for Clean, Clear Drinking Water, 6-Month Life, Easy Install, Pack of 1
The Samsung HAF-QIN/EXP Genuine Refrigerator Water Filter is a carbon replacement cartridge for Samsung refrigerators that use a square filter. It is designed to provide clean, fresh-tasting water, reduce sediment and contaminants, and support proper refrigerator fitment.
Overview
This Pack of 1 Samsung filter is intended for compatible Samsung refrigerator models that require a square filter. Samsung states that it is the filter system designed to work properly with its refrigerators and recommends replacing it every 6 months.
The cartridge measures 2.36 inches deep by 8.27 inches wide by 2.36 inches high and weighs 8.96 ounces.
Key Features
The carbon filter is stated to reduce 99% of potentially harmful contaminants, including chlorine and heavy metals, while also reducing sediment. Its listed certifications include NSF 42 for aesthetic impurities, NSF 53 for contaminants with health effects, and NSF 401 for one or more emerging contaminants.
An Authentication Tag is included as a way to check whether the filter is genuine: detach the tag, place it over the back of the provided magnet, and look for green stripes.
Real-World Performance
Samsung positions this filter as a way to deliver clean, clear, fresh-tasting drinking water while avoiding the fitment concerns associated with aftermarket filters. The manufacturer also states that genuine Samsung filters are designed to help avoid water damage caused by an improperly performing filter.
Customer feedback is broadly positive regarding functionality, installation, fit, and water taste. However, customer feedback is mixed on authenticity and leakage, so confirming compatibility and using the Authentication Tag are relevant steps after purchase.
Ease of Use and Maintenance
Samsung describes the cartridge as easy to replace and install. Ongoing maintenance is straightforward in concept: replace the filter every 6 months as recommended by the manufacturer.
Before installation, check the shape of the existing filter. This model fits refrigerators requiring a square filter; Samsung states that it will not fit if the current filter is round.
Pros and Trade-Offs
Pros include genuine Samsung design, carbon filtration, stated reduction of chlorine, heavy metals, sediment, and other contaminants, plus a built-in authenticity-check process. It also carries NSF 42, NSF 53, and NSF 401 certifications.
The main limitation is compatibility: this is not a universal refrigerator filter and is specifically for Samsung refrigerators that use the square filter format. Some customer reports also describe mixed experiences with authenticity and leakage, making correct identification and installation important.
Who This Product Is For
This filter is for owners of compatible Samsung refrigerators that require the HAF-QIN/EXP square-style cartridge. It is particularly suited to households seeking a genuine Samsung replacement filter with a recommended 6-month replacement interval.
It is not appropriate for a refrigerator that uses a round filter, or for refrigerators outside the listed Samsung-compatible filter format.
